Very Worried and Confused What to do

I have a  few questions. Can you get a cyst on the side that you do not have a ovary and a fallopion tube? Also if you were told you had a 6.5 cm cyst in november. You had ultra sounds and transvagional ultra sounds done in december they said the cyst was gone. but a cat scan said it was there but 3.5 cm. which do you belive the ultra sounds or cat scans? I am now experiencing pain again. It is not as bad as it was in November and December and I do not have the back pain like before. I think i am uriniting more. I do only have 1 ovary and 1 fallopion tube. My mother has ovarian cancer she is stage 3 right now. I am 50 years old. I just wonder if someone could answer any of my questions. thank you so much.

There is a condition called ovarian remenant syndrome. Basically it means that even if a microscopic amount of the ovary remains after surgery you can still develop a cyst.

If the cyst has halved in size it is NOT cancer. Which ever scan is correct it is under 5 cm and Ill bet on the next follow up it will be gone. The best thing you can do now is just keep an eye on it

Please ease our minds

Hello--I had a cyst on my left ovary, but it was on the right side of my pelvis because I had endometriosis and adhesions that were pushing it sideways.  You could have a similar problem, or you could have a cyst that isn't attached to your ovary at all.  If you are past menopause and are not on hormone replacement therapy, it is never normal to have cysts on your ovaries.  Good luck--I hope you find out something soon.
