Very scared I have Ovarian Cancer (only 23)

Okay, I posted here before, but I just a pelvic exam, so here goes: I am 23, for awhile now, I've had some bleeding with stools, back pain, gas, some abdominal swelling and weight gain, (a few pounds a year) rectal pain, and indigestion, some fatigue, and more recently frequent urination. Lately the last few weeks, I've not had much of an appetite and lost weight, my blood pressure is fluctuating between high and low frequently, and I have a high pulse rate, and I seem to have sinus problems and chest congestion I cannot get rid of completely. I've had my annual pelvic exams and they don't seem to find anything unusual this time either, but I seem to have pain when they do it, and I say "ouch", and I have let my last GYN (I just started with a new one), and she didn't feel anything unusual, I had a transvaginal and abdominal ultrasound a couple years ago due to these symptoms and the doctor said looking again at those results, the Ovaries couldn't be really seen (I had trouble with the transvaginal getting it "Up there", because I'm a virgin, I don't use tampons either, so I found it uncomfortable, and I had a feeling they couldn't see well enough. I've had a colonsoscopy, which only found anal fissures and internal hemmoroids (hemorrhoids), and a chest X-Ray not find anything wrong, but I have scoliosis, and could ovarian cancer be making worse? My spinal X-Ray didn't show tumors but you could see the pelvic bones that well, could this be a sign? Anyway, given all this, should I just accept I may have something like an irritable bowel, given my age, or should I press for another ultrasound and a CA-125 blood test? I am just so scared about all this..

Take a few deep breathes....chances are if they did not see any cysts, tumors or masses on or near your ovaries you do not have OvCa....however, if you are uncomfortable with a transvaginal, as the doctor if they can possibly order a CT Scan.  A CA125 alone cannot diagnosis OvCa, it is used along with a CT Scan or Transvaginal and/or a biopsy of the mass.  The only true way to diagnosis OvCa is to biopsy the tumor.

Thanks for both of your advice. I am seeing my primary doctor again tomorrow, and I am going to ask her opinion about more test and the CT scan. I have also just found the e-mail of my old GYN and have asked her about everything as well and what she thinks I should do. As far as X-Ray, I had the one of the chest due to frequent sinus infections and cough it found nothing, and as I said the spinal X-ray confirmed scoliosis and not being able to see the pelvic bones that well. As far as as exercise, I got a treadmill in early 2006, and have (except for the last few months with not feeling well) like you been doing an hour or so most days of the week on it, but it doesn't seem to be helping much as far as my weight (I am somewhat overweight) and that's what concerns me, too, it sort of keeps it steady but that's it, and I was gaining maybe 5-6 pounds a year the last few years. I'd get out my summer or winter clothes from the last year and not as much would fit, and stretch pants have been my friend lately...I just thought this was likely because I didn't have the best diet (especially during my recent college years and working downtown near too many restaurants) come to find it could also mean Ovarian cancer, who knew? Whether I have it or not I think the word needs to get out there to more women...

I am with NYC lady take some deep breaths, ask about a CT scan and if it is negative be happy.  I don't think a CA 125 is not very reliable for your age.  What I have finally learned at 62 is that exercise has improved my mental and physical well being.  I exercise 5 to 6 days a week for 1 hour, and I just now have the first cold I had in 3 years.  That includes when I was on my first round of chemo.  I had chronic sinus infections and back problems form arthritis, but it has all improved.  Get a X-ray and then try it.

I don't mean this to be rude or anything, but your post could of come straight from symptoms on the ovarian cancer wiki. As someone who has two children and numerous transvaginal ultrasounds, I can tell you that they DONT shove the transvaginal thing up that far, it gets moved around but not so much up. Sounds to me like you're just being paranoid.
