Weight gain

Finished Chemo back in April 2008. With in the last month I have gained about 10-15pounds. No change in lifestyle. Should I be worried about the cancer coming back?

I too gained back the weight after I stopped the first chemo. Now that I'm having my 3rd recurrence I can't seem to keep any weight on me. I know that my Onc stated the steriods used during chemo will pack on the pounds.  I don't use steriods anymore with chemo as I fill up too bad with fluids while on them.   Good luck~~~Joanne

I have gained 50 lbs since Dx in Jan.  I don't know what has happened.  I don't eat that much but the weight just keeps piling on.  I had a CT scan last Wed and it shows no fluid or growths so that is good; it did say enlarged lymph nodes suspicious for metastatic disease.  My onc told me this weight is very difficult to loose.  So my friend, you are NOT alone!  :)

My metabolism pretty much shut down during chemo.  I was working out and all, but still I didn't lose weight eating as little as 500 calories a day.  When I was completely recovered, I began gaining, too.  About 20 pounds.  I am having a heck of a time losing it, too.

From what I have been told by a few ladies, they didn't gain their lost weight immediately after stopping chemo. It took several months for the body to "get back to normal" and then the weight just "seemed" to happen.

If it's an all over weight gain, then I don't think I would be overly concerned. But you now know the signs, the bloated tummy etc and what to feel for. If you are really concerned and your next follow up appointment isn't due for a while, there in no reason you can't call your Onco and get a scan done earlier just to be sure and put your mind to rest.

Wishing you all the best and a longggggggggg remission!!!

probably not.  I haven't had chemo since 2/2007  and have put on 20 months and I work out etc.etc.  I think the surgery and chemo change you forever
Good luck.  If I sound bitter at times I am my body has gone through way to many changes
