I just want to correct my comment, evidentally, having routine CA-125s would not be good, it is best used as a marker during treatment.  Too unreliable as a yearly test of healthy women.  There is another more reliable blood test on the horizon.  I hope that pans out!  I hope women's health issues become more important to our lawmakers in the future, and more funding will follow.  If we can put a man on the moon, we can find accurate early detection for gynecological cancers, eh?  This second opinion forum is very much appreciated.

Thank you SOOO much for your time, your expertise.  I wonder what my Grandmother would think of this, getting an expert opinion and guidance online!  When she came to America from Norway, women did not even have the right to vote.  Now I see lobbying to make a CA-125 part of our yearly exam, and all these medical/surgical advances to help women beat ovarian cancer, not the least of which is this forum!  Thank you AKG and all those that will help with this forum!  Information is power, and I know you will save lives by prompting early diagnosis, and in general, education saves lives.  I'm thrilled!  THANK YOU!

In the course of my work as an editor/writer I have done much research on this topic, including interviewing researchers, gynecologists and physicians. When I began, it never occurred to me I might end up being my own subject. C'est la vie.

Navigating the confusing geography of this field takes stamina, but I've learned I'm not alone in my resolve to learn all I can, and to conserve my healthy organs. There are a lot of other women out there who are of like mind.

To our future.

Does everyone who posts need to have ovarian cancer? If so, MH needs to post this prominently.

How wonderful to have a forum where we might get knowledgable answers on the many questions so many women have on OC or the possibility of it.  Thank you for moderating this forum

I do not know if you have to have cancer or not to post on here?
I am wondering why you are asking me this question? Are you attacking me for some reason?
