What Chemo Option Has Worked For You?

Hi everyone, just a 'general' question to see what chemo options or combinations has had the most success for you (either by CA-125, Stable Disease, or any type of Response), even if the disease progressed afterwards.  Thanks!

Just found out that after 9 rounds of taxol/carbo and 2 ct scans that the cancer has not spread, the minute nods have not multiplied or change in size.  Dr wants me to continue the same combination to maintain this level for stage 4.  My ca-125 dropped down right after hysterectomy and has stayed under 35 all this time.

My best success to date has been with Taxotere/Carboplatin... did the job twice for me. Would recommend it, and it's not as toxic (according to my Oncol.) as the other combo...Taxol/Cisplatin.
Least side affects of any chemos I've had.....apart from hair loss, which is the least of my worries. :-) Hope your Mum is doing well Alan.  Hugs...Helen...

I had the usual Carbo and taxol for 6 treatments after diagnosis, am now on Doxil and Carbo, have had 3 treatments, scan was Tuesday, I guess it is working if you go by no news is good news.

Started with a ca125 in April of 380 stage iv.  yesterday chemo number 5 taxol carbo ca125 is at 6.5.  Have not had debulking surgery yet... September is the date...exploratory discovered it in April. Hope your Mom is doing better... Alan, I lived my entire life in Vegas until 2 years ago.. Will be there next week to visit my kids.

Leslee is still waiting to find a good combo   the initial chemo brought the CA125  to normal but recurred in 2 1/2 months  don't know if the Doxil is working yet, scan and blood work at the end of August

Ashley's chemo cocktail consisted of Bleomyacin, Etoposide, and Cisplatin.  It was administered for 3 1/2 hours per day for three straight days followed by two weeks rest inbetween.  This was done 4 times.  Chemo ended March 8.  She hasn't had an all clear scan yet, but 5 months out there is no definate bad news.  So as rmarie said, I guess it is working if you go by no news is good news.

My mother's disease has been stable since starting Doxil/Carboplatin in January 2007. She is still receiving this treatment every month. Diagnosed IIIC in October 2005, she was in remission for 6 weeks after 12 rounds of Carbo/Taxol before undergoing a third surgery.

If we are fortunate, there's nothing like Carbo/Taxol. I have done these in 2003, 2005 and now on Carbo/Taxotere. Don't know yet if it is working since I'm doing it every 3 weeks. These drugs seem to work when you have minimal disease.

So any second line drugs, I would say low dose Taxol was good for me. That kept me stable for months until I became resistant to it.

But when you have disease going on, I would like to hear from others, what reduced their tumors.

I had 6 rounds of carbo/taxol for stage IIIC.  My CA125 went from 117 befor my surgery to 8
3 weeks after my last treatment was finished.  I feel fortunate that I did not have any bad side effects except for the loss of my hair.  I worked full time through it all except for every third Friday when I went for chemo. I go back in 3 months for another blood test and hopfeully the number will still be low.
