What is the signifacance of fluid in the cul-de-sac? A 10X8 cm cyst was confirmed in the left adnexa as well as a small amount of free fluid in the cul-de-sac. The MRI & Ultrasound call the cyst highly suspicious for ovarian neoplasm. I do not have any symptoms & the mass was an incidental finding on an MRI. I see a gynocologist today for the first time. I realize the cyst will have to be removed & tested for cancer - but the fluid in the cul-de-sac scares me. Does this make the possiblitity of cancer - and even worse - cancer that has metastasized, more likely?
