What happens next?

Hello,

I should really be writing to my Mothers doctor, but I thought I'd try you first.

My mother (52) was diagnosed 13 months ago with late stage 3 ovarian.  It had spread up towards the liver and stomach lining.  They couldn't remove most of it because it was likened to a VERY thin layer of butter.  She had chemo for about 9 months, and her cancer count levels dropped as low as 40(ish).
They said her only chance of getting completely rid of it was some experimental kemo involving stem cell transplantation, and a while in hospital.

They waited until she was fit enough to have the treatment.  They waited about 6 weeks. She was defiantly fitter, but the cancer had come back and her levels were at 60 (ish) - by this time, too high to have the experimental treatment.

So, they put her on a new (to her) type of chemo, to get her levels back to 30 (ish) by the end of the year, so she could have the experimental chemo in the new year.  We just learned that this keno hasn't worked.  She's been on it for about 3 months, and her levels shot up last week from 60 (ish) to 130 (ish).

She meets with her doctor tomorrow to decide where to go from here.

I wish I could give you more info, but that's all I know, and I don't like to probe into things with her too much - she's pretty scared.

My question is - where do we go from here?  Should we seek another surgeon / doctor?  What options does she now have?  What happens to other women in her position?  Prognosis?
I just want to be able to plan my life with her.  She's 52 and otherwise fairly healthy.

Yours,
Andinno
