What is the difference?

Sorry, it's tetris again.  I guess nervousness makes one panicky.
Is there a difference between Nodules,Cysts, Fibroids?
Thanks again

I have a question.  I know you are not a doctor.  This may sound strange.  Has there been any research as to Cyst, Nodules which has the higher potential for becoming a cancerous situation.  I can't find anything on any of the search engines that just gives a simple difinition or explantion of ovarian nodules.  It seems I am very lucky to have discovered this as small as it is, but from there i'm lost.

I had the CA-125 yesterday.  Although I know it has some flaws, I feelit is a base line as are pap's and mammographies.
I guess I'm just scared.
I'm trying to get a grip on this so I can make the choices, should this be more than just a benign situation.

Just please remember that a CA125 blood test does NOT diagnosis Ovarian Cancer and the test often produces false positive results in pre-menopausal women.  There are reasons other then OvCa that can cause the numbers to rise.  Also, there are many women with OvCa that have CA125s within normal ranges.  A CA125 is best used as a tumor marker once OvCa has been diagnosised.

Keeping all of that in mind, it is still a helpful diagnosistic tool when used in concert with sonograms, CT scans and biopsies.

My daughter is also 49  and just became a gramma. She  was waiting for her 5th chemo when her daughter delivered Nov 1st.  So I am now a great gramma.

No you did not preach too much.  As this is foreign to me.  Knowledge is power.  I appreciate and will appreciate any information I can get to arm myself against this.  I too have a daughter, my only child and I would do exactly the same if need be.
Although this nodule appears small it scares the beejesus out of me.  I have had no health problems.  I don't smoke, drink and I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian.  Sorta doesn't seem worth it.  I don't know if my medical insurance covers it, frankly I don't care. i'll redeem soda bottles to cover it.  I am only 49 and I want to be around to see grandchildren.  Hopefully, it's nothing, if it isn't I hope I am lucky enough to treat it early, especially being asymptomatic.
I get the CA-125 tomorrow.  I thank you so much for your time and concern...

yes there are differences  Cysts are sacs filled with fluid or semi-solid material.  Fibroids are more solid growths  {tumors} on and of the uterus that grow  and depend on hormones, they are beneign, and grow and shrink in size. Nodules are usually very firm growths that can be felt or seen readily , they tend to be more prevalent  in or around the lymph glands. A cancer starts with a single cell, we all carry them, but when a cancer cell devides and as the new cells divide and keep dividing it develops into an area of cancer. That 1 cell can start most anywhere. We carry natural cancer killing cells in our systems.  If the balance is correct the cancer cells are destoyed. Genetics, environment and diet seem to play an important part. I am not a cancer specialist, just a person that has been researching and learning so as to help my daughter understand more about her OVCA. I have become a strong advocate for the CA125 test to be run on yearly physicals for all women.  They have us do the pap smears and the mammograms. Hope I didn't lecture you too much.  You women on here, and the men too, have my admiration for sharing your knowledge to those seeking the answers. My prayers go out to all of you.  Marty
