What is your opinion on Avastin?

What is your opinion on Avastin?

Is your hospital using Avastin for ovarian cancer. In what cases do you use it? I know it is not approved for ovarian but there seem to be some good results.

I was just wondering. I have had this cancer for 4-1/2 years now. Had brain mets and surgery took care of that a few years ago and my brain scan has been good. It's the abdominal area I worry about now.

Some oncologists seem to worry about Avastin with someone that has had brain surgery. What would your opinion be? I would really like a good, honest opinion. My gyn/onc is recommending it but my oncologist not.

Thank you. Your answer is really appreciated.

We are trying to get Mayo to ok it for Leslee  if you do take it be sure to look up the benefit of taking CoQ10 with it   even without her taking Avastin yet  she did start the CoQ10  has made her feel so much better  If Mayo will not ok  it she will be looking into Zion Ill and the CTCA. The Doxil alone is very hard on her.

Yes, I will get on the CoQ10. That was recommended to me by the hospital nutritionist to go with chemo. So good with chemo especially Doxil. Yes, I did not like Doxil. I thought it would be easier than Carboplatin/Taxol. Let's hope it works with Leslie.

I have given up on the Avastin. I finally have understood my doctor's concern with me. We surely don't want bleeding in the brain. And if you have an obstruction, it can be dangerous also. The scarry thing is we really don't know what is growing in the intestines. Scans don't pick that up.

We just pray it keeps working with Melody and whoever else is on it.

I will look up the supplement you mentioned.  However, I always find your take on things so helpful.  Would you elaborate on it, please?

Right now we are searching  all over for the answers, we trusted the surgery, the first line chemo, the trial for the recur, and now another recur, now we are the ones doing the suggestions and also listening to what they have to say, we know that what works for one does not always work for the other person, but there are so many avenues out there and we are looking at them all. If Leslee can "feel good"  while we work on getting answers , right now that is what we are doing. The CoQ10 and the Mataki Extract, help that feel good feeling and since they don't do harm,  she takes them. Mayo has 1 more chance to come up with a good plan the 18th, if not she will be looking for answers elsewhere.  The Doxil was not supposed to be so rough, but it is racking her up for days now.  A person cannot exist on pain , and nausea pills.  Leslee is a very strong woman and has a positive attitude but we know things can be better and that is what must happen.  I will not allow anything else.  I had to laugh at the doctors here telling her last week, "at least this time you didn't lose your hair".  As if that was important.  I will never stop reading and learning about this damn desease until she is CURED of it.
