What maintenance is there after you finish your first line of defense?

Hi There,
There is no standard maintenance therapy after completion of first line chemotherapy. There was a recent report suggesting that a year of taxol given once every 3-4 weeks reduced the risk of recurrence. Many oncologists do no believe this data. However, there are many oncologists who are offering this. You should ask your doctor about this. Beyond that, there are clinical trials looking at maintenance therapy such as monthly avastin. You should also ask your doctor if there are any clinical trials that he/she would recommend.
The standard of care is close follow up with checkup every 2-3 months.
