What prognosis can we expect?

My gratefulness, Dra Goodman for this forum
I'm sorry, my english is very bad, I´m writing  from Spain, but I'll try to ask you a question. I'm husband of a woman with ovarian cancer. Her clinical situation is: 29 years old, stage Ic, grade 1, epitelial ovarian cancer of clear cells. She was operated in december 2007 and was removed ovarian, utero, appendix. The doctor only finded a tumor in left ovario and ascitis with malignant cells (Ca-125 preoperation 76, postoperation 12,2, post chemo 9,6).but no other signals of disease in the rest of her body.  Is it  cureable cancer of my  wife? Our doctor tell us about 70% of possibilities. Is it correct? Can we do something for getting better this?. Thank you very much.

Dear Oscar,
thank you for your question. It sounds to me that your wife is in a good prognostic group. Yes , this cancer can be curable. However there is a risk that your wife can experience a recurrence or a new cancer in the future. it will be very important that she gets check ups over the years.
the standard follow up is to have an exam and CA 125 blood test every 3 to 4 months for the first three years after treatment. If everything looks good then after three years, we reduce checkup to every 6 months. i also like to check a CT scan to look at the lymph nodes every year.
best wishes
