What's after chemo?

My mom was diagnosed with stage II ovarian cancer about 2 years ago. She had a  complete hysterectomy followed up by 6 treatments of taxol and carbo.  A little more than a year later the cancer recurred.  There are two masses in the abdomen and surface growths by the liver and splein.  After this she took two carbo treatments which were stopped after having a reaction.  Then she tried caelyx and after the third treatment she went for a CT scan to show that the surface growths had gotten smaller but the masses had increased slightly.  The doctors are unsure if any treatments will work or how well they will work.  I was in the doctor's office with her as they explained thisand I couldn't help but to be angry.  First of all knowing that more rounds of chemo may not help at all must be frustrating for her but then when she asked about any other treatments, the doctor bluntly said there aren't any.  Maybe I am just emotional because it is my mom, but I really can't believe that chemo is all there is. My mom is not even sick and her cancer hasn't affected any organs so, in my opinion, now would be a good time to attck it full force.  What else is there?  When will more funding be given to this deadly disease?
