Where can I get info on calcification in rgt ovary

by rkk, Apr 04, 2006 12:00AM
I can't find any info on calcification in ovary.  Can someone help me.  It seems to be extremely rare.  I went to library and internet.  There isn't much of anything.  If it was a dermoid cyst wouldn't it say it on the US results.  It only state punctated calcification.  Please Help.  I have spent a week trying to find something for guidance.

Hi there....I went to Google and typed "ovarian calcification" and got several responses.....that is a good place to start.
If you go there and have trouble understanding what they are talking about....come back and I am certain several women here will help you figure out what is what!
It is very wise of you educate yourself.....in doing so you are empowering yourself.....you are a fine example for all women.
Peace.

Calcification in an ovary is usually due to a dermoid cyst that produces hair, teeth, bone particles, etc.  They are usually removed instead of being left in because dermoids do not go away on their own.  Good luck!!

Those of us that have had dermoids (I had two softball sized dermoids!!) like to refer to them as our "inner cat".  Just something to lighten things up a bit.  They can have hair, teeth, bone, cartlidge, skin, salivary glands, and a host of other cell growth.  Very strange things indeed.

I was told it was not a dermoid cyst. 2 doctors said that it was due to scar tissue from an old cyst and that it would always be there and never go away.  That concerns me.  They said it was nothing to worry about.  It is not a cyst, jus dead calcified tissue.  I have looked on google and a million other places and there is nothing on just calcification.  I did see that some had a completely calcified ovary.  Not just calcification in an ovary though.  I am so puzzled.  I guess if 2 doctors said not to worry that I shouldn't.  thanks for all your replies.
