Worried-Symptoms getting worse

I came across this forum accidentally by searching for OC symptoms and found it to be very informative.  My question is "Do I need to be as worried as I am?"  (I tend to be a worrier).  I thought by asking someone who has went through similar symptoms/OC could better inform me of what to do.
I was pretty healthy up until last Summer/Fall when I started having URQ pain on my right side and I was doing a health fair w/my job and decided to get some basic lab work done resulting in elevated liver enzymes This was a shock to me so I got a FP and the testing began.  First they found it to be my gallbladder and I had it removed.  But instead of the pain going away, it got worse.  Then I was sent to a Gastroenterologist who performed an endoscopy that didn't show anything major (just minor issues) Then I started developing, stomach pain/bloating/severe gas, pelvic pain/pressure, frequent and urgent urination (which is not corrected w/antibiotics) and severe lower back pain which sent me back to the FP.  She detected blood in my urine (this was the third time for this) and put my on an antibiotic again and sent me for a CT of the kidneys (looking for a stone)-It came back normal.
In the mean time, I went to see my OB/GYN, which is a nurse practitioner who delivered my one year old last year.  She seems to take things very lightly and seems to brush me off as a worrier at times.  I told her my symptoms and my fear and she did a quick pelvic exam then sent me for a vaginal US-It showed fibroid tumors but my ovaries looked normal.  The NP wrote it off as endemetriosis from the past (which was never diagnosed), just assumed, and told me that I did not need to worry about OC because the US would have showed something.  She recommended a consult w/her partner on Feb 10th for a possible hysterectomy to get rid of the pain.  But what about ALL my other symptoms?
My research says that I have every symptom of OC except for the vaginal bleeding.  I am extremely worried, of course thinking the worst as I have three daughters, the youngest being only 12 months of which I am still nursing.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Comments that may be useful are welcome-Thanks so much!!!

If your ovaries were normal in the US then you don't have ovarian Cancer. Did you get a teansvaginal US?  You can ask for that and for a CA 125 blood test. Sounds like possible endimetriosis. I had OC and I know people who have had fibroids and endimetriosis. Sounds like you have what my friends had. I had OC and your ovaries have a huge mass on them. You can get the transvaginal US to be sure.  Sometimes when OC is very small, caught early it is hard to see on a regular US. I wouldn't worry though sounds to me like you do not have OC.

Hello ChristieB1,

I can totally relate to your worries, but it is okay and normal to be worried about this, as even the word 'cancer' brings fears to our lives. Your OB/GYN is correct, and so is Missy3037, that if it were ovarian cancer, ultrasound would have showed more than it did.

However, you can never be too safe, and I suggest you to take CA125 blood test. This test is not an absolute indicator for detecting the presence of ovarian cancer, but it is well known and used by clinics all around the world.

Also, if able, request a CT scan of your pelvic area. It would show a lot more than ultrasound, and gives doctors a broad view inside.

By the way it sounds, the 'fibroid' may be causing all the symptoms indicated. Severe 'bloating' and 'lower back pain' would be due to the presence of tumor inside, also a build up of gas. Whether it be cancerous or benign, no one knows yet.

Your children must be adorable! and proud to have a mother like you!

We are all here for you, and again, worrying is normal, so stay positive and get involved in more family activities to spend lots of quality time together!
