Welcome to the site.  I had two dermoids removed on 12/21/2005.  One on each ovary and each dermoid was larger than my uterus!!!  Dermoids are benign.  It is an unfertalized egg that developes cells.  Mine had hair, skin, teeth, bone, cartlidge and salivary glands.  They are weird, but DO NOT WORRY!!!  Dr.s  don't really know why this happens, it just does.  You will be fine.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  If you have any questions, please ask, no matter how silly they seem.  Looking forward to talking to you soon.
