Would any Dr consider 10th line treatment?

Hi

My mum has had ovca stage 3 since March 2005. Has had 9 lines of chemo (taxol, carboplatin, doxil, oral meds...) over 7.5 years. Had a partial bowel obstruction in May 2012. Dr has said to see if any clinical trials, but there isn't. The Drs who looked into the trails wasn't her normal Drs, and the trial Drs thought her normal Drs would consider a platinum and taxol again as it was July 2011 when she finished cisplatin and taxol. Her CA125 has been increasing since then but it did get her ca125 down to 70 after the 6 cycles back in July 2011.

Her normal Drs said its not worth trying but I think it is, even if they gave her 3 cycles and reassessed.
Any I being unreasonable? Mum wants to give it a try.

Just to update you, mum saw her Dr on 03/Oct/12 and she is willing to let mum try cisplatin again but mum is to tell the Drs if she feels the side effects are too much. She is also on medications for bowel obstruction as she is getting alot of tummy trouble such as cramping, and not wanting to eat alot.

you are not being unreasonable!
it is important to weigh toxicity of chemo with benefit
If your mum is not sick and the CT scan does not show any large growths, we usually like to hold off on chemo until something is seen on a scan
too much chemo can lead to bone marrow failure: anemia, low white counts, low platelets and kidney failure
