I am no doctor, if you are worried about the vomiting I suggest you see a doctor and find out what is causing it.

What is the normal sedimentation rate?

The normal sedimentation rate (Westergren method) for males is 0-15 millimeters per hour, females is 0-20 millimeters per hour. The sedimentation rate can be slightly more elevated in the elderly.

the sed rate elevates with infection.

Your Mom should have surgury but not by scope. The surgeon needs to see where the cancer is to get it all.  I agree she needs a gyn-oncologist to do the surgery.
My sister was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer Stage IV. She had to have 3 chemo treatments first before the surgery because the tumor was so big.  When they did the surgery the tumor had shrunk so much there was very little to take out. She then had to have 3 more chemo's. She will have her last one in two weeks. It has been rough as she is 72 years old but the doctor is very, very confident she will be in complete remission.  Good luck with your Mom.  Little Sister

No, laproscopy would not be an option.  Surgery should be done by a gynecological oncologist for best results.  Good luck to your mom.

for advanced Ovarian cancer  there must be a full hysterectomy and a staging done by the surgeon. by an onocologist,  this cannot be done by scope. Since she has had  1 year of chemo, perhaps the drugs have shrunk the tumors, but they still must be removed.  followed by more chemo to protect her from recurrance. I am sorry to hear about your Mother, good luck to you and please let us know how she comes along.  Marty
