acupuncture, reiki?

acupuncture, reiki?

I'm having a very hard time dealing with the side effects of my 3rd chemo treatment. It just seems to be getting worse with each treatment. I feel nauseated, extremely weak, and I have terrible bone and joint discomfort from the Nulasta shot of white blood cells. Have any of you tried alternate methods to help with chemo side effects? I've done a few sessions of Acupuncture, and I'm having a hard time dealing with the needles. What about Reki? Do any of you have suggestions on what I should try? Shiatsu Massage? I'm up for anything. Best wishes, Deandra

Sorry you are having such side effects.  What type of nausea medicine do they have you on?  I used to get sick my third and fourth day after a treament until I started taking the pills at home called Emend.  I have not thrown up since last Feb.  I still feel tired for several days after treatment but I just take it easy ....I know the body needs that in helping to fight the cancer.   I have not tried any of the alternate methods.  Good luck with future treatments.   Debby

I have tried Reiki, Acupuncture, massage and another alternative method that I can't recall the name.  Massage definitely helped me the most for the body aches.  I find Acupunture helps me a lot.

The best for me was accupuncture.  I suffered from diabetic neuropathy before chemo and after chemo number 2 it was unbearable.... it even went to my hands... Within 2 treatments I was 100% better and the neuropathy is now disappeared from my hands...my feet will never be great but that is from 43 years as a type 1 diabetic... I tried massage to no avail... I now go once a week and boy did it help me..... Ronni

I was told not to have body massages while on chemo so I get reflexology done...this works the same way as acupunture by pushing on the points/meridians at the bottom of your feet that are connected to different parts of your body.  You might try it but I will warn you that it can be extremely painful especially if you have health problems.  Do tell the reflexologist about your treatment first.
