advice??!!?

what are the risks of having a non cancerous tumor which is growing in size
my mother has had a tumor for the past three years and was wondering what the risks are

It depends on many things.  First of all, where is the tumor growing?  If it is on her ovary, there is the possibility of torsion, which causes the ovary to be "choked off" and die.  If the tumor is resting somewhere on a nerve, it could cause pain and/or numbness.  If it is growing and is close to her bowel, it could cause a blockage.  Is there a specific reason she does not want it removed?  And, how do you know it is not cancerous?  I'm not trying to scare you, but ovarian cancer can only be diagnosed through biopsy at the time of surgery.  You cannot be 100% sure it is non-cancerous unless it is tested.  Biopsy of ovarian tumors is very rare because it is risky without removing the entire thing.  Not sure the risks of leaving it in are worth it.  Can you give up a little more information about it?

a begnine tumor is still comprimising surrounding organs..if tumor is on ovary it could rupture. she needs to deal with this ,,if its fluid filled sometimes all one needs is a aspiration, more common to have it removed as they tend to come back,,,,the bigger it gets the more difficult the surgery.
my room mate in hospital when I had my hysterectomy was 80 she had a begnine grapefruit tumor removed was up and walking next day....my strong advice deal with this before you and mom are sorry you waited cause it will get worse/
