I am just wondering if you mean that you are having a Colposcopy? And, I hope I am spelling it right, but sometimes the doctors and nurses refer to this as a "Copo." I guess that at first, this is what I thought you were talking about... but that is splitting hairs with my dear co-forum friends who are quicker than me tonight for sure.

Having said that... if this test is being done because you had a suspicious Pap Smear result, then you are having the Copo. But, if you are having your Colon checked out then... yes...you will be in that "twilight sleep" most likely. I was awake for the two times I had one and the first one was only bad because I had so many surgical adhesions collapsing my colon (which is why I was in pain which led to the Colonoscopy) but the second one which I just had last winter was SOOoooo not bad.... and, as I said, for me, I was never totally out... just relaxed. And, the surgical adhesions were a thing of the past. This is how a Colonoscopy should be...easy, really.

Sorry to jump around here, but if it is a Copo that you are having... I did not ever mind those and I had many. I might have taken a strong dose of Ibuprophen beforehand, but I would check with the doctor on that if this is the test you are about to have.

Let us know how you're doing.

Hi,
A colonoscopy was about the easiest procedure I've ever had! And I was pretty nervous! And yes, nowadays they knock you out.

Once you've drank all the stuff the night before, you'll go to the clinic, where they'll put in an IV and have you put on a gown.  They'll wheel you into the room, fully awake.

They'll ask you to lie in a position, say, roll slightly over to one side. Then, it's bye bye time. The Versed that they give you puts you completely to sleep.  You'll wake up in recovery, completely pain free but a little goofy!  That's it. Good luck!

Yes, they will probably use versid, which wears off rapidly, with no after effect. Thats what I had, I woke up and thought they hadn't even done mine. Good luck,
