back from surgery

back from surgery

Second surgery is over and I was in the hospital exactly 1 week, The chest drainage would not stop so they could not pull the chest tube.  I ended up with a tumor on the diaphram, so that was resected, one on the surface of the liver and 3 on the colon, all removed.  It is hard to believe that they got it all again.  Now I get to recover and do chemo.  Thanks for your support

Sounds like your surgery was successful! Thank goodness...now you can go into chemo knowing that the bulk of the tumors are gone. I'm really hoping to push my Dr into doing more surgery on me after my next round of chemo, especially if it shows it's not working. I can't stand the thought of knowing I have the tumors inside my body. Are you going to be doing Taxol/carbo again? I wish you the best of luck...it's not easy, but you'll make it through. We are all here to support you,
Becky

Wow, your surgery is over. Now you can rest and know they got that out of you and chemo will take care of the little stuff.

You sound like a very brave lady and you have a VERY GOOD doctor. He did all that and you handled it!!!

I have a friend that has the cancer growing in her abdominal area and she has told me that it is avocado size and surgery isn't recommended. Can I ask you if you live on the East Coast because I really think she should get a second opinion and have it taken out.

Best of luck, rest well and I hope you are not in too much pain. And of course that you have a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor!

I am on the east coast, The first thing my gyn/onc said was he would remove them.  I wrote to the physician and she had agreed with the him, also had said we could try chemo to see if that decreased there size.  A second opinion is never a bad idea.  I read a book called "How Doctor's Think" while I was hospitalized, found it informative, one of my surgeon's was also reading it.  Are you east or west coast?, I don't really think it matters, it is the gyn/onc that is important and how big the center is,  good luck to your friend.
