Thank you so very much for all of your input. Like I said, I am 17 years out, been putting up with meno issues all this time. With the info you have so kindly provided, I will do some more digging. And Jan, as for the Voodoo comment, I do see a Voodoo priestess from time to time, however I have never given any thought to discussing this with her, she's in her 50's so maybe she can be another resource for some info. :))))
One thing I just remembered about my OVCA experience that I neglected to mention previously. During my 6 month chemo process, I went to an RN who did what is called healing touch. I don't know if it was beneficial, but it certainly made me feel calmer and that's always a good thing.
I want to wish all of you a very HEALTHY and Happy New Year. Please know that I have included you in my prayers and even though I am not all that religious, it was my experience that having others pray for me gave me a sense of being loved. Cara

I also have read so much about bioidentical hormones and wanted to go that route but my gyn/onc told me he doesn't recommend any hormone therapy for those of us with ovarian cancer unless you just can't stand the symptoms.  I felt like he was saying I would be raising my odds of recurrence if I take them. I am 37 and severe menopause  symptoms occurred within the first few days after surgery.  My gyn/onc told me he feels even the bioidentical could raise my chances of getting breast cancer.  He really didn't seem to know or care too much about them though.  He is just into the cancer and that's it.  So, for six months I took nothing.  Recently, after much debate and concern, I decided to try black cohosh.  My main two symptoms were severe hot flashes and severe vaginal dryness.  After taking the black cohosh, the hot flashes are minimal and almost nonexistent.  My vaginal dryness now seems to be relieved with OTC lubricants and before it was not.  I am still worried about taking it.  Since my surgery was six months ago and my life was not working without it I am going to stick with it for this year and try to taper off.  Anyone have any input on black cohosh?    Shelly

I went thru menopause in June, July, and August of 2005.  That was it, done, over, knock on wood.  I seemed to be okay, but at the same time, looking back I was developing a slow growing tumor.  I often wonder now if the tumor somehow interfered in a good way with my menopause.  I was not on any HRT but had looked into the bios as i was not putting anything in my mouth made out of horse urine.  Than the cancer thing came up and I kind of forgot about it.  The creams are compounded with yams and as much as I don't like to eat them, I would have put them on my skin.  I have not looked into any of this again, as I have heard that you can't take HRT's with OVCA, but am now wondering if I couldn't do the bios.  Does anybody know anything about Bios and OVCA?
Nolabean: You may find this site helpful and it lists a few Drs in LA who do this.  It has every state listed.

Hi....You guys are the best :)

YES....I will be back. I am running out the door on errands. Gosh I missed this site while they were updating it.

Check out my profile, Cara, as I put in some things about the bios but I will add more later. A great tool...that profile section. Again...I HAVE TO THANK JAN for encouraging me to "GO BLUE."

Hi, yes Mary is the EXPERT on bio hormones.  She should be around shortly.  I was on them for a while and help using Mary's suggestions.  Are you on any hormones right now?  Shannon

Just call around to some smaller drugstores.  There is one in Mt Juliet that charges a couple of hundred dollars and there is one in Cool Springs that charges only about 80 with test kit and first months supply.  I know that guy and he says you don't need all the stuff they try to make you do.  Just a swab inside  your mouth and they compound the cream.  My GP is very up on it and helps people find there way to it.  Hey, you are in Nawlins.  Find some voodoo guy, he can probably conjure you up something.  :) :)

I went to a seminar about this when I was having depression from hormone problems related to menopause... Looking back on it,I wonder if this was the start of my c... but not to get off the subject...Look for a compounding pharmacy... lots of drs. don't want to do this kind of hormone therapy... Anyway, they check your saliva from time to time to know what hormone levels are out and make up a dosage just for your specific needs. Hope this helps. It seems to me like the cost was approx 150. two years ago
