Hi There,

Any abnormal bleeding should be evaluated. The risk of cancer increases with age. So at age 50, about 15% of women with abnormal bleeding have a cancer in the uterine lining. At age 80, 90 percent of women with bleeding will have a cancer.

Other reasons for bleeding include:
infection
hormone imbalance
polyps
precancer
lesions in the cevrix, vagina, or vulva.

You should see your gynecologist. The standard evaluation incudes a biopsy of the lining of the uterus and a pelvic ultrasound

best wishes
