ca 125 level 41

My doctor called and said my ca 125 level was 41. I am nervous because he told me it was slighly elevated but he is not concerned it is cancer. I have a large cyst, he said probably paratubal due to its lg size at 18x15x8cm. I know ca 125 is not diagnostic but I am so nervous until my sx on 5-23-11. How long does it take before I get the biopsy results. And what do you thonk my chances are of having cancer?

This discussion is related to what is considered a high c 125 level?.

Hello.  I don't think you are over-reacting in the least.
I would suggest you request a referral to a gyn/onclolgist.  Not because I think it is cancer, rather, this is their arena of expertise.  This is who you should have for your surgeon as they have an additional three years training for your exact situation.
YOU HAVE ONE CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME......get the expertise of a gyn/oncologist on your side.
Please do let us know how you are doing...and what you find out.
Peace.

There is no way to know if you have ovarian cancer until a biopsy is performed during your surgical procedure.  They will have some info when you wake from the anesthesia.
I can certainly understand your concern and anxiety.....waiting is no fun!
Most ovarian growths are benign, and that is the good news.  Still, there is the chance that it is a malignancy, and, that is why you need a gyn/oncologist perform your surgery.
If you aren't already being referred to one you still have time to go.
YOU HAVE ONLY ONE CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME......make absolute certain you have a gyn/oncologist for your surgeon.
So far as your CA125 goes.....that thing makes me crazy!  Mine is 6 but if it goes up even a tiny bit it scares me to death......sometimes I feel like such a baby.  Mine went up once when I had a chest cold and one would have thought my world had exploded!  Regardless of your CA125, you won't get the answers you are seeking until your surgical procedure.
Hang in there, kid.....the 23rd will be here before you know it.
Keep coming here.....we will wait with you.
Peace.
