ca125 results

I am an Ovarian Cancer survivor of seven years.  I just recently had my yearly test completed.  It seems that everything is fine with CT, PAP, and Chest X-Rays, but the CA125 number is at 46.5.  My DR. is not too concerned about the slight elevation, his solution is to visit him every month for an exam and CA-125.
My question  - after having a complete hyst.  why would an ovarian test(CA125) indicate an elevated level?  Do CA125's also indicate other types of Cancer.  My last CA was 17 is the increase to 46.5 in a year something to have another opinion?

I am so glad to see you start an Ovarian Cancer Forum.  I have always felt that Ovarian Cancer was back seat to Breast Cancer.  That people did not talk about Ovarian Cancer.  The sad thing is that many of us have not lived through it.  Thank You for the new Forum.
