can a pelvic ultrasound tell if cancer is a possibility?

I've been having vague symptoms and had a pelvic ultrasound the docotr said my ovaries were normal size but my tube was dilated..just wondering if a pelvic ultrasound is sufficient or do I have to have a transvaginal to rule things out?
