hi all..just to check in real fast..my incision is doing better, the tunnel is now completley closed, and the incisin itself is now shorter by a inch on both sides...yippie!now,i woke up this morning, hurting on my right side...it was a much different pain than ive always had with my cysts, but thought since ive had surgery, maybe the pain is different..with my cysts,i always have like a dull ache and i always know what it is...this pain has moved, actually a little further over from my ovary, and its very very bad sharp pains that keeps coming and going..as the night is wearing on,the pain is getting more frequent, and worse...it hurts worse if i move,or walk,or try to get comfy..i may be totally crazy here, but i have actually started wondering if maybe its my appendix....can it take a little bit for the pain the become full blown??cant say about a fever, because ive had a fever everyday since ive had the infection..but this right side pain,is definatly something ive not ever had before...how does appendicitis start.do any of you know?and does it immedetially get bad,or does it work up to getting bad..i know this sounds stupid, but i dont know any other way to describe it..its very very sharp pain in my right side, that is coming and going..help,please.....mary v.how are you...sonie

Sonie, it sure does sound like it could be you appendix.  My friend had problem with hers, and she said that it started our dull, then got so bad over the evening that it got to the point that she had to crawl to the phone.  Is this how your pain is?  I would say get to the ER NOW!!!  If it is you appendix, you sure do not want it to rupture, espicall with already having an infection.  I'll be praying for you.  Keep us posted.  Kasie

Hey Sonie,
I am fine but know you are onto the fact that something is not right, even in the wound care setting you are doing the tightrope-walk through!  (Litdoc has open post-op wound, could use words of experience!)  Thing is Sonie, the two things that come to mind that bring on immediate pain like you have described is appendicitis - no experience there and bladder issues.  Ruling out either takes lab work, bloodwork for possible appendisitis (appendicitis) (sp) and urinalysis for bladder issues.  Nothing you can make a clear judgement call at from home!   Get back in, OK, I will emit a cyber scream on your behalf,   HHHHHHIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRTRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'
That's what sucks here Sonie, you have to go back in.  I love you Girl and hope you do so!  Mary V

Hello Soniek, you luck is like mine, 30 days ago I had an emergency appendectomy. I the pain in my right side a few time early in the month but took some tylenol and got it eased down. Then all was well again. Then one morning I got up and all was fine for a while went to class etc. But the sharp pain hit again this time very severe I also started vomiting. So your best bet is to get it check out ASAP, mine had already perforatid meaning leaking. But,if they burst there is severe trouble. So please don't wait to get it checked. The sooner the better, I went straight to the ER and after theydid a CT I was rushed into surgery. Appedacities is nothing to ignore. I hope this helps.

Girl it sure does sound like your appendix.  Do this:  lay down on your back and have DH first tap the bottom of your left foot and then the bottom of your right.  Not hard but enough to feel it.  If you feel pain no pain in both - good, if you feel pain in left but not right, not appendix, however if you do feel pain in the right and not the left - get to the ER STAT.  Another test is to hop (gently) on left foot, then right.  If you feel pain in the right side go to the ER STAT!!!!!!  I can tell you this because, I and both of my children have had emergency appendectomies and they are the same kind of tests that the drs. do.  You can also press on the left side and then the right to see if there is pain.  Please get the care you need.  I know you do not want to go to the hospital again, but this is serious too.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed
