cancer has come back

I was diagnosed with stage 3b ovarian cancer in sept. of 2004. I had full hysterectomy and tumor reduction surgery in february of 2005.  followed by three months of chemo.  My CA 125 levels went down to 3.5 the highest was 10.5.  When I went back to MD Anderson in march of 2007 my levels were back up to 37.  My cancer is back and they have had me on gimzar and then topatecan my last CA125 is 76 I am getting a little worried that this is not working and what to expect .

I too was on Gemzar and saw a huge decrease in my CA. It just did not last very long before my numbers started going back up. Then I was switched to Topotecan which did absolutely nothing. I just recently starte avastin/abraxane. It is my hope that this will finally work. Hang in there. You will find one that works for you. Stay strong and do not give up hope.  LOL Chris

I am on Gemzar and it is one of those that can start off bad or stop working.  A friend of mine didn't see a decrease until her third treatment.  Mine went down rapidly through the second  treatment, 3rd it went down 1 pt,  4th no decrease so... Yes, I got that good news yesterday also.
What has your onc had to say about it.  Mine has told me I need to finish the 2nd half of the 5th treatment and than the 6th as well.  He said it is just a lull and will probably still come down.  We are all so different in how we react to this stuff and fortunately/unfortunately there are several people on this forum on Gemzar so hopefully they will be along to tell you their stories.
Good luck to you

I am so sorry to hear about this, because a recurrence is so frightening.   As to your results so far, aren't there a number of chemos that cause a CA125 rise at first and then start going down?  I'm hoping this is the case for you. Take care.  Paula
