I am trying to get an diagnosis for a medical condition that no one seems to be able to figure out. I have had "attacks" of extreme bronchospasm, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and flushing for the past eighteen months. These attacks have gotten much worse over time; and they are now quite predictable. They seem to happen most about one week after I have my monthly cycle. They usually happen after eating; and begin with the flushing of usually my upper body, but recently my whole body usually turns brightBright beginnings red.
I have had every teest in the book it seems- CT of abdomen, octreotideOctreotide Octreotide acetate, blood work(chromogin a), and 24 hr urineCalcium - urine Calcium urine test Chloride - urine Cortisol - urine Electrolytes - urine Glucose test - urine Hcg in urine Ketones - urine Kidney - blood and urine flow Lh urine test (home test) Ph urine test for histamine, and 5hIAA. Long story short no one has come up with any answers- and I am afraid one of these attacks is going to kill me. The last time (4/4) I was hospitalized for 6 days- 3 days in the CCU. I am scared!! The doctors have consistently found a cyst on my right ovary with each scan- no one seems overly concerned abot it- but I want it checked out!! I am scheduled to see my OB/GYN on 5/7- any suggestions on what to suggest if he doesn't seem too worried? Thanks for any help you could give me. Kerry
If you google CarcinoidBronchial adenoma syndrome, the mayo clinic has a site that states in rare instances the tumor that causes the syndrome can be found in the ovary. See the GYN, and if he doesn't agree, find a GYN/Oncologist. here is the link Good luck, keep pushing
