my doctor told me after i had a vaginal ultra-sound that there was fluid by my cervix.  is this something i should be concerned about.  thanks,patty

Hi Patty,
You should ask your doctor if you have some scarring in your cervix and then a little fluid above it. That is called cervical stenosis.
This can happen after a procedure like a cone biopsy, or an infection, or even just from dryness after menopause.
It is easy to see on exam.It usually does not mean anything important. But if you have some scarring of the cervix, your pap smear may not be checking the upper part of the cervix. That may be a reason to open up the scarring by a minor procedure called dilation.
