chance of cyst reccurance after uterus, 1 ovary and tube removed?

I had a cantaloupe sized endometrioma removed in August.
Along with the cyst - my doctor took my right ovary and tube(damaged due to cyst) and uterus (b/c of adenomyosis - I hemorrhaged twice after my deliveries).  I have been having similar symptoms to what I was having before my endometrioma was found.  What are the chances of reccurance for ovarian cysts?  I don't want to be hyper-vigilant but I do want to catch things before they get so big again.

WEll,
I don't have any more problems with the "ando" b/c my uterus was removed along with my right ovary and tube (as well as part of my left tube and cervix)....all of that due to a cantaloupe sized endometrioma attached to my right ovary and tube.

I always had a lot of pain with periods...they were 3 weeks long (regularly) and VERY VERY heavy with lots of clots.  I hemmorhaged 2 weeks after giving birth and then another 2 weeks after that (with my first child)- at which point they did surgery to stop the bleeding.

I always had tremendous pelvic and back pain with my periods and a lot of pain that shot down my legs and a "stabbing" type pain that shot up my cervix into my abdomen.

Obviously, I dont' have periods any more and am feeling much better.  I just was having some cramping like i was having when my last cyst was found and i was nervous.  But I think I'm truly okay.  I just get nervous and don't want things to get soo big...i'd rather be vigilant and catch things early.  you know?

What is the plan for you?

Take care!
Laura

Hello

You can have a cyst every month. A cyst occurs when the egg is released from the follicle. That happens every month. What did your Dr. think of your adenomyosis? I have recently been diagnosed with that and my Dr. said it can be very painful even more painful then a ruptured cyst. Maybe you should ask your Dr. about the adenomyosis. I am in the process of having surgey for that. In many cases they may have to do a hysterectomy to alleviate the pain unless you have it in an isolated area. Just make sure your Dr. has treated many women with adenomyosis. Hope that helps you. :)

Are the symptoms on the same side as where the cyst and ovary were removed?  I only ask because I had a similar sized endometrioma 15cm. removed with my left ovary and tube, and now I have an ovarian remnant on the same side with a new cyst 4.5cm and it seems to be growing.  If a few cells are left behind, it can regrow.  It is rare, but can happen.  it is called ovarian remnant syndrome.

There are a few others posting here in the last few days with the same problem.  Hopefully, that is not the case.

Best wishes,
liz
