complex cyst

I feel bad writing because my problem is so minor at this point compared to some of the others. I am 38 and have a small (two cm) complex cyst on one ovary. My PCP recommended waiting a few weeks and having another ultrasound. But everything I read says that you shouldn't do the "watch-and-wait" thing with a complex cyst. She has referred my to an ob/gyn but I can't get in right away and I'm rather worried -- my friend died of ovarian cancer that started with the diagnosis of a complex cyst. She was only 39 when she was diagnosed.
Isn't surgery and/or biopsy recommended for all complex cysts? How ridiculous am I being to worry like this? How long is it safe to wait? How many complex cysts turn out to be cancerous?

I AM 31 YEARS OLD AND A YEAR AGO I HAD A HYSTERECTOMY AND MY LEFT OVARY WAS LEFT BEHIND .  ABOUT 3 MONTHS AFTER MY SURGERY I COMPLAINED OD PAIN IN MY LOWER LEFT SIDE IN THE PELVIC AREA.  THE DR. LET THIS GO ON TILL JUNE OF THIS YEAR AND THEM ON A SONO FOUND A COMLEX CYST ABOUT 4 CM IN SIZE. SHE THEN PUT ME ON A BIRTH CONTROL. NOW IN SEPT. I HADASECOND SONO AND THE CYST IS NOW 5.25 CM AND I HAVE DEVELOPED ANOTHER ONE THAT IS 2 CM. I AM WORRIED AND THEY WANT ME TO WAIT UNTIL JAN. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS A GOOD IDEA OR AM I IN ANY DANGER.
