complex hemorragic ovarian cyst

by knk1997, Jan 17, 2008 03:56PM
Hi!  On a recent pelvic ultrasound, there was a 1.7 cm cyst found on my left ovary.  My doctor told me that the report said it appeared to be a "complex, hemmoragic" cyst.  He advised me to have a repeat ultrasound in about 6 weeks.  I have been searching the internet for more information, because I am by nature a huge worrier. I am making myself sick worrying about what they will find on the next ultrasound. Nothing I have found so far has given me any clarification or reassurance.  I am 32 years old, have 5 children, there is no history of ovarian cancer in my family, and from what I understand, ovarian cancer is rare at my age (Actually, that info helped a little bit).  Can anyone please provide me with more info on complex cysts?  According to some websites, simples cysts are nothing to worry about, but complex on the other hand are harder to define.  Does anyone know if complex cysts are related to ovarian cancer?  I would appreciate any advice so I can sleep better until the next ultrasound.  Thanks very much!!!

I just had a 6cm "complex, hemmoragic"(ultra sound report) cyst taken out of my right ovary. my gyn onc call it mass before the surgery and tumor after the surgery. dunno what the diffence is. but I was clearly dx as endometroiosis which is benign. 99% of cysts are benign.

I am 32 yrs old as well. hope it helps.

One of my cysts was also a hemmoragic and all that means is that it bleeds into itself. It, along with my other cysts were each benign. Try not to worry too much...simply find a doctor you trust and work through the possibilities, risks and treatments with him/her.

Best to you,

Sharon
