cyst after menopause?

I had a CT scan done for kidney stone. CT scan showed growth on left ovary. Had sono immediately and was told it ws a calcium deposit cyst and was nothing to worry about but to be rechecked in 6 mos. I was always told you couldn't get a cyst after menopause stops. True? Also what is a calcium deposit cyst?

I am post menopausal and have 2 cysts on my right ovary, 1 is 4cm and the other is 3.5 cm.  they were discovered during an CT scan for kidney stones.  should i be worried?  I thought woman who have gone through menopause don't get ovarian cysts.

Post menopausal cysts are more worrisome then pre-menopausal cysts.  But, remember most cysts are benign.  If you have doubts and are not comfortable with the responses that you are getting from your doctors, then it is important that you find someone  you are comfortable with.

At 4cms it is still considered a small cyst. When they reach approximately 6cms, then doctors will usually remove them because at that point they can begin to cause problems, such as twisting.

I do not know what they mean by calcium deposit...and I would be curious to know how they can tell what it is by looking at a scan.

You have added to a really old post ! Try posting a new one and you will no doubt get more replies..I will answer though from my own experience.

I'm post menopausal and did have a cyst. We can still get cysts and they still are 95 % benign.. Ask your Dr. if he or she plans on ordering a TVUS (Transvaginal Ultrasound) in order to perhaps get a better picture.. But don't worry.. and try a new post..
