Hello Dr Goodman
I have found out the cancer type my mother had.
Papillary Cystadenocarcinoma of the ovary (Papilocystic adencarcinoma), apparently it is serous.
Could you please tell me more about this type of cancer, and is it hereditary. Is this a type of epilithian cancer.
Also does this cancer have a poor prognosis.
10% of ovarian cancers are hereditary
prognosis is better if:
the women is younger (less than 55)
the cancer was completely removed
the cancer did not recur within a year (which is called platinum resistant)
prognosis is not related in general for how the cancer looks microscopically although the grade of a cancer is important (grade 3 cancer recur more frequently than grade 1 cancers)
