cystic

My doctor did a ultrasound of right ovary.I knew 2 years ago I had a cystic the size of 2.8x1.3 cm.. I moved and had not been back for a check up in 2 years, which I know is wrong and will Never miss again. But now the ultrasound showed in right adnexa, there is a hypoechoic lesion measuring 1.4 cm x2.2cm 12.5cm.This is slightly heterogeneous and difficult to completely characterize. Cystic lesion right adnex. It is unclear weather this a complex ovarian cyst or cystic lesion in the pelvis otherwise.Another consideration would be small fluid collection in the pelvis. Can you tell me what is the differents in Ovanrian Cyst or Cystic lesion? Is there a big chance this could be cancer? My grandmother died of Ovarian Cancer at 98 years old? Thank you. I 'm going to a Surgery next week.

95% or more of all cysts, masses are benign, so your chances are very small that it is cancer.  Good luck on the surgery and be sure and let us know the outcome.  marty

Chances are very, very good that your cyst is benign.  Good luck on your surgery.  I would not worry as much about the family history since your grandma was diagnosed so late in life.  I do hope you continue to take good care of yourself and be aware of how you feel and get good regular check ups.  Let us know how things turn out.  Marie
