few questions..

by Crickie, Jan 30, 2005 12:00AM
I'd like to know what the chances of recurrence are for OVCA stage 2b grade 2. Also 5 year survival rate. Does it make a difference if you had only surgery and not the 6 rounds of chemo. Should I recur, would treatment be the primary one (that I didn't have -carbo/taxol?). Finally, can one have a recurrence and still have a normal CA level?

I think I read somewhere that in very rare cases the cancer can return and not produce an elevation in CA-125 test results.  I suppose it is for the same reason that some women with ovarian cancer do not have elevated CA-125 levels in the first place.  However, all of the women that I have known with this type of cancer had rising, in some cases rapidly rising, CA-125 values when the cancer returned.

I was under the impression that all ovarian cancer staged 2 and above were given chemo, and in most cases staged I grade 3 was also given chemo. Are you saying you didn't have chemo following a staged 2b cancer?  I would question why.
