fingernails & doxil

Has anyone had fingernail changes while on Doxil? Over the past 2 weeks,  I have developed a thin, vertical, asymmetrical black discoloration originating from the base of my ring fingernail. A google search points to the possibility of a melanoma. Of course I am hoping for this to be a side-effect of chemo. Any insights?  Thanks so much.

I was on Caelyx (doxil) earlier this year and the same thing happend to my fingers and toes. It was also mentioned somewhere as a possible side effect. I showed it to my onc who wasn't worried. It was exactly the same as you describe it. After i stooped the chemo the discolouration gradually went or grew away. Try googling side effects of doxil and you might find it there. I don't think you need to worry too much ask your onc at the next appoint. Best wishes.

Bumping up.

I saw a dermatologist today who said this could very well be a melanoma and wants to do a biopsy within 2 weeks if this does not change. Has anyone had fingernail changes while on Doxil? Thanks again. It looks like there has been a lot of difficulty lately in this forum and although I visit very infrequently, I appreciate the suppot that is offered to all! Take care.
