granulosa cell tumors

by groucho, Oct 24, 2003 12:00AM
I am a 44 year old woman who had a complete hysterectomy 1 1/2 weeks ago because of fibroid tumors and abnormally long menstrual periods.  My doctor called me last night to tell me that the pathology report showed a granulosa cell tumor on my right ovary.  He called this a low-grade malignancy and set me up with a gynecological oncologist in a week and a half.  He mentioned I might need another surgery.  Can you give me any information on this?  He did tell me that he was stunned by these findings as everything looked great when he did the hysterectomy.

Groucho,
Did he take your ovaries out also?
I had a granulosa cell tumor (malignant) on my ovary as well. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy (ovaries, uterus, fibrium, omentum, lymph nodes, fallopian tubes & appendix). That was in March.
Now I had a CT scan that showed a cyst in my abdomen. It has not been confirmed that it is a tumor but I am pretty sure it is.
Please let me know of your progress. I wish you all the best.

I have had multiple granulosa cell tumors in different areas of my body.  I currently have one growing behind the left kidney.  I've had these removed by surgery, had radiation and also chemo, but they still keeep coming.  Is there any cure?

I've had several granulosa cell tumors and have tried radiation and chemo.  The longest I've gone without a tumor is 2 years.  Have you had better results?
