Before my mom was diagnosed, she was on BP meds.  After surgeries/chemo, she no longer needs the medication. But she will start avastin again tomorrow and BP does have to be monitored.  If BP gets too high, it can be controlled with BP patches (which my mom had before) OR pills if she can handle them.  The last time she was on Avastin, she did not need her BP medication at all, it seemed to be high for a few days and came down.  We do monitor it closely and if we are concerned, we contact the doctors.

Hi

All drugs have what is know as a "half-life". This is the amount of time they remain in your system. The reported half-life of Avastin is 11-20 days. So after this period of time it should be out of your body.

I am not sure how if the high blood pressure continues after this period - it may. My wife has just started taking Avastin and it has affected her blood pressure a little. The Oncologists told us that they can manage the high blood pressure with other drugs. Have they suggest you take anything?
