Hi, it's funny...I was reading your post and all that popped in my head was, "The answer is simple...progesterone"...I must explain, I am not a doctor.... I am not a salesperson for progesterone:) ...but, as I like to say, I know enough to be dangerous! Seriously, when I read the posts that mentioned the progesterone, I just smiled.
I come from a family of nurses...my big sis is a nurse and has taught nursing and has been published in medical journals and she had to research like mad to get information on the bioidentical hormones. She used them after her hysterectomy and I have used them since my hyster for ovarian cancer...(Sept. 2000).
The bioidentical progesterone saved my life ( I had been on bio estrogen for about a year before I started the progesterone, but needed both to balance my system). I know that sounds dramatic, and I was not really going "over the edge" but, I vividly recall the week that I felt the hormone "kick" in...it was a gift from above. It was as if someone lifted the fog from my brain that had been there since before the surgery...I started to really get my life back. I would not be without it, plus in my case I use bio estrogen and testosterone, too...but in your case, I would just encourage you to call a compounding pharmacist and pick his/her brain.
My compounder is so very knowledgeable about the hormones. To be honest, in my head I have started to call these "hormones" and anything else...like BC pills, Premarin, Prempro, etc..."Drugs"...which is the case. But, there is so much confusion out there regarding the bioidenticals. I have posted a lot of info on my experience and research findings...but, to start, I would pick up Dr. Uzzi Reiss's book on Natural Hormones (Natural Hormone Therapy is the name of the book, I think) and anything by Christianne Northrup, MD..."Wisdom of Menopause"...there is other information out there...just make sure that when you talk about it you stress that you are not referring to "Progestins." That is the icky synthetic pretend progesterone. Also, your compounder should be able to tell you which docs he or she works with...and, go out of your area if you have to just to get the info you need. My compounder is about 60 miles away and we Email or talk on the phone and he mails my hormones to me. My doctor just wants to stay in the loop, but my pharmacist is so familiar with all of this, that my doc and I rely on him to steer the whole show...whether he knows that or not!
Well, gotta go. Let us know how things go for you. You will get your answers...I can feel it!
I read about the natural progeterone cream but it is too scared to use it without doctor's instructions. I am taking some Chinese medicine pills. Will let you guys know if it helps with my endometriosis and cyst problem. I just had a surgery to take out the cyst.
See my post/question on diet changes...
I woul definitely find a specialist. I have friends who swear by natural progesterone cream
I know women who have tried homeopathic or holistic type approaches to PCOS, and every one of them found that homeopathy for the condition just did not work - when used alone, that is. Most found that using a more "organic" approach to life helped at least with the side effects of the BCPs used to control the condition. By organic, I mean using herbs and concoctions, elimination dieting, lifestyle changes - that sort of thing; you probably know in general what I mean. You will need to find a specialist, as many of the homeopathic concoctions must be made for that particular patient's needs. Most large cities have clinics geared towards such 'whole body' approaches.
