hysterectomy DONE and out of hospital!

hi everyone, had my TAH and oophorectomy on 5/3, got out of hospital on 5/6. I feel really really good. I have virtually no pain..I have had one motrin since I got home. Only issue is the exhaustion so I'm pretty much on the couch....I had two fibroids removed and one "exophytic tumor/mass" that was IN a uterus and bulging out. My first question when I woke up was "did they take lymph nodes"...when i heard the big "NO" I went right back to sleep! Pathology is not back on anything as of yet, so that will be the final determination, but I"m happy for now.

I had general anesthesia AND a spinal. Worked very well for me. The general anesthesia was started on me, then they did the spinal in the OR...I vaguely remember leaning my face into the nurses chest so they could do the spinal, but I remember nothing else.

I was able to sit up in the hospital bed using my stomach muscles on the second day! Didn't have to use my arms to pull myself up. I also no longer have pain when I have to pee!! I have never been able to go longer than an hour between potty stops so this is a new world for me. I actually have experienced a full bladder now and it DOESNT HURT! I have never known this feeling! I used to feel so much pain the longer it took me to find a bathroom, almost to the point of being nauseaus! Then I would only pee a tablespoon! The doc mentioned to me that the bladder was squashed by the tumor. ......to all of you facing surgery this week, I send you good thoughts and good wishes for BENIGN and BORING results!! Now I will catch up on YOUR news as I browse the sight.

Congrats Nanik!
That is great news that nothing hurts anymore! Just take it easy, and get caught up on all the little things that you never seem to have time to do (like scrapbooks, recipes, etc..all the things that I plan to do when I'm tired of sitting on the couch doing nothing) :)
Keep feeling better!

Thank you ! So nice to hear from all of you. I have a lot of catching up to do on this site...so much happening. But I'm under orders to only go up and down the stairs once a day so I haven't caught upon reading everything yet. (computer is up, couch--phone-tv is down so I spent most of today down)

Take care, thanks again. nanik
