I just found out I have a cyst on my left ovary.  The doctor made me go three cycles before another ultrasound was given.  It showed the cyst was still there, and now she's sending me on to the surgeon.  Mine has caused horrible pain!!  I wouldn't wait too long because in my opinion there is nothing like the pain from an ovarian cyst!

I would speak with your doctor and tell them you are uncomfortable with their monitoring of you, make sure they know what kind of pain you are in.  In September 2003 I had a cyst removed on my left ovary that was 7cmx6cm and incredibly painful.  Not until after my surgery did my doctor really let me know how much trouble it was at that point to remove.  I'd had it for at least 3 cycles, with my pain increasing almost daily.  Make sure you relay how much pain you are in, they don't know unless you tell them.

Pat,

It would all depend on the type of cyst, did the Dr say?  If it they are simple cysts, they usually go away with ovulation, if they are complex, they do not, I would think that he is waiting a month to check you again so that you'll be thru 1 full cycle.  The biggest  of the 4 seems to be about 1 1/2 inches, right? I do have a friend that is monitored for cysts on both ovaries as well, but she goes every 3 months.  I believe she has 2 on one ovary and 1 on the other.  Her MD said as long as they do not change she's going to leave them.

I do feel however, if you are uncomfortable with waiting, call the Dr and ask why he is waiting a month.  If you are not happy with his answer, get a second opinion.  Good luck
