Dr., i was diagnosed with immature teratoma stage 1 but has not spread outside the ovary(only left ovary is affected). however, last august 29, 2007 i undergo surgery. they already removed my left ovary. my question is, is there any posible that the cancer will come back? and what is the consequences if didn't undergo chemoterapy?? due to financial problems. Or should i not undergo chemoterapy on my case?? please help me?????
Well...I suppose there is always the chance that cancer can come back, but immature teratoma tends to be highly "curable". Often times when immature teratoma is diagnosed in low stages and grades and surgery to remove the tumor is performed a "wait and see" approach is used. Then if in fact the cancer returns, chemotherapy is then administered. I hope this helps you out some.
