leg pain and ovarian cancer

Hello, I am 5 months postpartum. Since about 1 month postpartum, I have had very bad leg pain. It seems to start in my inner thighs and radiate all the way down into my calves and sometimes even into my feet. I also have a lot of back pain. About 3 months ago, I went to my OBGYN because I was having a lot of ovarian type pain mostly on my right side, along with the leg pain. She did a transvaginal ultrasound and said that there were two very small cysts, one on each ovary. I was surprised, because I am breastfeeding and have not resumed my menstrual cycle yet. Anyhow, she sent me to a neurologist who ran some tests, including a MRI to look for a slipped disc or pinched nerve in my back......nothing. So, now the pain in my lower abdominal area is getting worse and I am also feeling bloated all of the time. My stomach seems to always be upset and it feels like there is always pressure, it feels like I always have to have a bowel movement. I am so worried about cancer, and I have read that leg pain and back pain can be symptoms. Should I get another opinion.....or should I trust the ultrasound that I got in November? The docs aren't worried about it.

I would have as many tests done as possible to rule out Ovarian Cancer. My sister had a large mass around right ovarie seen on ultra sound and MRI. They thought it was a fibroid. Then she had a CATSCAN and found out it might be cancer. She was one of the few that ended up with Cancer. I would think they would do a CATSCAN or similar to rule out any masses and a CA 125 marker test, at least you will have a baseline to start with. There may be other tests. My sisters back/but pain for several months was caused by large mass pressing on something, not similar to yours. She was seeing a chiropractor that only made things worse. She did not have pain go very far down the leg. Sounds like your sciatic nerve which I believe goes to feet. Find a good onc/gyn just to be safe. God bless.

I agree with the last post.  Do what your heart tells you to do and not wait for the doctors.  My Moms symptoms started and everyone was telling her she was ok.  No one actualy ordered any further tests, otherwise her cancer would've been cought early.

Everything that everyone posted is so right. We're all on this website to help prevent ovarian cancer with women and if they should have it, we want them to catch it early. The biggest problem is whether a cyst is cancerous or not. Doctors don't know until they operate. I was just told that a woman had a cyst on her ovary and the doctor wanted to watch it. She wanted it removed and the doctor found cancer behind the cyst. This is not to alarm but just state the poor facts. The good facts are that most women have cysts only. But if you're the unlucky one like myself it is usually caught at a later stage.

Maybe all your pain is from having a baby? Or yes, I thought too sciatic. See what the neurologist says. Then there's cat scans or pet scans.

Best of luck.
