lots of pain

I had severe pain in my right side and when going to E.R. they as I thought appendix.  After blood work and CT.. it was not appendix, they did see some fluid in pelvic culdesac area?  I started my period the next day and for the last prob 5 periods I have lots of cramps ( not like this pain) and bleed kind of dark blood at times. They E.R said I might have had a cyst that ruptured? what it pelvic fluid? Is a cyst ruptering usaully that painful (aprx 3-4 days).  I am 38 and have had to linning of my uterus lasered about 2 -3 years ago to thin out due to heavy periods but no unusual findings.  I did have a cyst removed before that on the right side but the cyst was actually on the outside or the ovary?  I know I suffered alot of pain and all they could say was fluid in pelvis and prob a cyst had ruptered?  any idea?? or suggestions??

To ease your mind, a ruptured ovarian cyst can definitely cause the pain that you had.  I saw a case like this in med school.
