Good for your supervisor! Thank her for me. The working world needs more people like her!
The greater likelihood is that you will be miserably uncomfortable if you wear the jeans. I know; I have 'been there, done that,' as they say. As for actual physical complications, the jeans will irritate your incisions (even if they appear healed,) possibly cause bruising, and will press against still-sensitive healing tissues in your abdomen. Most women find they cannot stand to wear their denims for a month, some two months, but some can do it in less.
When I could stand the elastic pants no more (about 1 month after surgery) I purchased a pair of jeans that were too large for me. These jeans also had an elastic waist. By being large, and having the elastic waist, I could pull them above my waistline, thus pulling them above the area of incisions and surgery.
I'll be the devil's advocate today, only because the thought of ANYTHING constricting around a still-relatively new incision makes me cringe. Sittng in jeans is usually more difficult than sitting in them. Can you wear a skirt? One that nice and full like a broomstick skirt? There are time when you've played by the recovery rules ane you STILL have a problem with an incision. I'd hate to hear that you've gotten this far in the whole surgery process, only to have caused damage to your incision from a pair of jeans. Besides, going back to work 2 weeks after a laparotomy is pretty soon anyway. Give yourself the chance to heal.
peace,
Anne
I will probably be able to wear my one size up low riders from Abercrombie as they are so low, they are below the sorest areas. Also, go onto Victoria's Secret website and look at their Yoga pants. Stretchy, adorable and sooo comfortable! Great jean substitute!
