ovarian cyst

About 6 mths ago I went into the gyno for anual pap found BV, long story but had a hard time getting rid of that, during that time I had tingling and burning lower back inside upper thighs and a uncomfortablness around my vagina. This has been pretty constant for 6 mths 1-2 days might feel a little better but then its back, anyway finally my gyno does a pelvic and said I have a cyst, she orders a ultrasound and they tell me its a solid cyst on my right ovary its 6.3cm x 6.7cm x 7.3cm. I am 43, healthy, my question is could this have caused these symptoms all along I have had a 2cnd opinion and now a surgeons opinion, whos going to remove this in about 3 weeks, tell me possibly could have cause symptoms and I dont know. Has any one had symptoms like this and what can I expect with my sugery and recovery time. They say 50/50 on cancer and they wont know until their inside. Please help scared and confused. Thanks

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that I had my surgery to remove the cyst on Friday, April 7, and everything went very well.  I am on the road to recovery, a bit sore & bloated, with a light period.  The docs said I should be ready to go back to work within 3 days, but that's pretty unrealistic, imo.  I've worked it out so that I will have at least 5 days recovery & I only work part-time!  I really didn't have to take any pain medication, other than Tylenol the night of the surgery, and that was only b/c I wanted it as a precaution to get through the night.  My guess is it'll take a few weeks to "really" recover as my belly is swollen & tender, and I'm moving at a snail's pace for the most part.

I want to wish you good luck with your health & I hope you get things worked out too.

I to am having my cyst removed not sure of the sx date still waiting on the insurance co. Its nice to know that my symptoms are not unusual, I have been having them for 6 mths and I have to say I was starting to think I was crazy. Finding the cyst was scary, but also a relief to know that all the things Ive been going through are from something. I have never had sx and I am very scared, but look forword to feeling better. I hope all goes well for you as Im sure it will, I'll keep you in my prayers. Good luck and let me know how recovery is. Best of Luck

Hi, I was just going through reading some of the posts & yours caught my attention.  I must say that I have been experiencing similar symptoms as you have stated.  I have a 5.5cm cyst on my left ovary & I believe it is causing the problems I've been experiencing, especially right after ovulation & before my next period.  I have had some groin pain in which I have trouble walking & have to be very careful.  I also have pressure or tightness in the vaginal area & some mild back pain & bloatedness & nauseousness at times.  I will be going in to have the cyst removed in a couple of weeks & am hoping that this will alleviate the problems & that it is benign.  I hope everything goes well for you & that you get the comfort you need too.

Welcome to the site.  Let me first tell you that 99% of ovarian cysts are BENIGN!!  2ndly they do cause all of the symptoms that you have been experiencing.  I am glad you got the second opinion, but perhaps a 3rd might be called for.  You will get plenty of answers and support hear.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed
