ovarian cysts

I'm 27 yrs old- I'm concerned about results of a pelvic ultrasound I just received 2 days ago- was done on 8-31-05 (which was done to make sure nothing wrong with me & I can have a baby- which I must tell you the obgyn who ordered it & called me with results said everything is fine & nothing showed up that would give him any reason why I could not have a child). My husband and I are trying to have a baby and I would rarely, almost never have a period for about 9 years due to an eating disorder. I over came my eating disorder & finally am having periods again since November 2005. they do come monthly but some months I bleed in the middle for a couple days & not sure if it is my period or random bleeding. reason I just received a copy of my pelvic ultra sound was because I had went to a fertility specialist and the the nurses aid who saw the copy asked me if I was told that I had cysts, I was shocked and said no and even the doctor that saw me that day mentioned nothing of cysts- so I asked for a copy to be sent to me. concerned that the cysts will not let me have a child or why my doctors did not mention it to me. can it cause me to not have children? The report went as follows: uterus measures 6.8 x 3.4 x2.7 cm. the endometrial stripe measures 4.0 mm. No free pelvic fluid is detected. the rt ovary measures 3.1 x2.6 x1.6 cm. the lt ovary measures 2.5 x 1.8 x1.7. there is a few smaill follicles seen with each ovary. there is a 1.2 cm cyst seen with the rt ovary. no adnexal mass. Please help. Is this something to be concerned with my husband and I want a baby so much. thanks

...from what I can figure out, (I am not a medical professional) I think you are doing just fine. I had mid cycle spotting on occasion when ovulating... "Try to relax" ...yes you will hear that a lot!... and it's quite true...
Talk to your doctor about your report and you will feel better.

It is quite likely that the cyst seen on your ovary is a normal, functional cyst that will resolve on its own.  I had two of them late last year, both basically the same size, and both resolved before I could have a second ultrasound.

I am glad that you are seeing a fertilty specialist.  You may very well have lingering health issues due to your past eating disorder that need to be addressed, and the specialist should be able to assist your medical needs, or be able to recommend other specialists for your needs.  (I understand your situation as there is a member of my family with an eating disorder.)
