ovarian mass

I have just recently had a vaginal ultrasound done with the following results.  Moderate sized hypoechoic mass within the right ovary measuring 3cm which could represent hemorrhagic cyst versus dermoid or tumor. The lesion has more of a solid appearance but there is some increased through transmission of sound. This is causing enlargement of the right ovary.
I spoke with my ob and she said we will just repeat the ulrasound in 6 mos. I am considering getting a second opinion but was wondering am i worrying about nothing!

Hi , write down a list of questions before your appointment and make sure you get the answers , some of these doctors skirt round issues but its your health and you need to feel at ease with whats happening .

Thank you very much for the info. I am going to follow up with my reg Md and ask for a referral for a 2nd opinion. My current ob has started me on progestin which has stopped my continous bleeding but i am still having severe cramping. I also have concerns about being on this med as I have had a previous pulmonary embolism and have had 2 heart attacks.

Hi , If you are not happy always get a second opinion . I would not be happy myself waiting 6 months to repeat the ultrasound . Although most cysts are benign and they don,t usually remove cysts under 5cm , yours has a solid component that i would want monitored  frequently . Take care Angie xx
